How agent and referral systems usually work
Many brands in the Malaysian market grow through people rather than ads. An agent or affiliate shares a link or code; new players who sign up through it are tracked, and the agent earns a commission. A referral scheme is similar but aimed at ordinary players: invite a friend, and one or both of you may receive a bonus.
None of this requires the agent to handle your money or your login. That single fact is the most useful thing to remember on this page.
Real contact vs fake agent
| A genuine contact… | A fake agent… |
|---|---|
| Sends you to the platform's own registration page | Offers to "register for you" with your details |
| Lets you deposit inside your own account | Gives a personal bank account or e-wallet number |
| Never asks for your password or OTP | Asks for OTP "to activate your bonus" |
| Points you to written promotion terms | Promises guaranteed wins or secret patterns |
| Accepts that withdrawals go through the platform | Asks for a fee to release your withdrawal |
Telegram and WhatsApp groups
Groups can be handy for promotion announcements, but they are also full of impersonators. Scammers copy an admin's name and photo, then message members privately. Before acting on anything from a group:
- Check whether the message came from the group itself or a private chat.
- Compare any link with the address you have bookmarked.
- Never send money or codes because of a private message.
Promises that should make you suspicious
- "I can give you a special bonus not available on the site."
- "Deposit to me — it's faster than the official method."
- "Send me your OTP so I can activate your account."
- "My pattern guarantees a win on this slot."
- "Pay a small fee and I'll release your big withdrawal."
Each of these moves your money or your login outside the platform — exactly where you have the least protection.
Thinking of becoming an agent yourself?
Some players are invited to become agents or affiliates. Before agreeing, be clear about the legal position in Malaysia, which is strict for gambling-related activities, and about what you would be responsible for. Never agree to collect other people's deposits into your personal account.
Getting a referral bonus safely
- Use the referral link or code from someone you actually know.
- Register on the official page that link opens — check the address.
- Read the referral terms: who gets what, after what conditions.
- Deposit only inside your own account.
What evidence to keep
If something feels wrong, start saving evidence immediately: screenshots of the agent's profile and number, the full chat, any bank or e-wallet details they gave, and every transfer receipt. Police and banks can act faster with complete records, and you will not be able to recover messages once a scammer deletes the chat or blocks you.
If you already sent money to a fake agent
- Stop sending money, even if they promise a refund after "one more payment".
- Save screenshots of the chat, numbers and transfer receipts.
- Call your bank immediately and ask about stopping or tracing the transfer.
- Report to the National Scam Response Centre on 997.
- Change your Zus88 password if you shared it.
Withdrawal problems that involve the platform itself are covered in our cuci guide.
Questions players ask
What does a Zus88 agent do?
Agents and affiliates typically introduce new players and may help with registration questions. They should not need your password, OTP or private transfers.
Is it safe to deposit through an agent?
The safest approach is to deposit only to payment details shown inside your own account, not to an individual's bank account.
How do referral bonuses work?
Usually you or your friend receive a reward after the referred player registers and meets certain conditions. Check the referral terms.
An agent says my withdrawal needs a fee. Is that normal?
No. Treat any request to pay before receiving a withdrawal as a scam.
